A rail damper is a means to limit the noise of passing trains. In this way the noise is tackled at the source. The dampers are clamped to the rails using rail fastening clips. On average rail dampers attain a noise reduction of roughly 3 dB(A).
The new and easy to use block structure of rail dampers enables an efficient damping of track impact noise. The noise level of rolling and screeching wheels reduces significantly. The damping of rail vibrations is a new technology within rail and train technology and up to now, it has only been applied by a small number of operators.
