Brake pads and linings

The first UIC-approved synthetic LL brake shoes worldwide for the replacement of cast iron brake shoes.

In order to reduce noise nuisance, freight wagons can be equipped with synthetic K or LL brake shoes. A significant benefit of these brake shoes is that they keep the wheel smoother, whereby the rolling noise reduces. The quiet trains ensure a reduction of eighty percent of the noise nuisance. So replacing brake shoes on trains provides a cheaper noise reduction than for example, acoustic barriers along the railway track.

A brake lining made of organic materials has been used successfully for medium to high thermal loads. It is applied to passengers’ equipment, light-rail-vehicles, electric multiple units (EMUs), diesel multiple units (DMUs) and high speed lines.
